Take a ferry and bus from Buenos Aires to Montevideo on Day 1. Transfer to the city of Colonia del Sacramento for a day trip on Day 2. Discover the colonial charm of this coastal city as you explore its Historic District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about the history of the conquest and colonisation of the River Plate and visit the Rambla Costanera, the Real de San Carlos with its old Bull Square and the San Benito Church. On Day 3, visit Montevideo and see its most famous landmarks including Plaza Independencia, Mercado Agrícola, Palacio Legislativo, and Monumento a la Carreta. Make a stop at Plaza Virgilio to enjoy one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the coast. End your trip on Day 4 with a return transfer to Buenos Aires by bus and ferry.
Day to Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Ferry & Bus Buenos Aires to Montevideo
Make your way to the designated dock today to catch a ferry to the beautiful Uruguay. On arrival to the new country you will catch a bus to Montevideo Bus Terminal, where there will be someone waiting to transfer you to your accommodation for check-in. Get settled in and enjoy the rest of the day walking around Montevideo to get to know the city on your own. Visit the beaches and boardwalks or walk around town and slip into a laid-back cafe or restaurant. Overnight in Montevideo.
Day 2: Montevideo - Colonia City Tour - Montevideo (B)
You will be picked-up and transferred to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Colonia de Sacramento for a day trip where you will have the chance to discover the colonial charm of this coastal city as you explore its Historic District. Learn about the history of the conquest and colonization of the River Plata, visit the Rambla Costanera, the Real de San Carlos with its old Bull Square, the San Benito Church and other neighbourhoods of the city. After the tour you will be dropped-off back at your accommodation in Montevideo for overnight.
Day 3: Montevideo City Tour (B)
Today you will discover Uruguay’s capital city of Montevideo by visiting its most famous landmarks: Plaza Independencia, Mercado Agrícola, Palacio Legislativo, Monumento a la Carreta, the Centenario Stadium and more. You will cross Punta Gorda and stop at Plaza Virgilio to enjoy one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the coast. On the way back you may choose to stay in Punta Carretas Shopping or go back to your accommodation.
Day 4: Bus & Ferry Montevideo to Buenos Aires (B)
Today marks the end of your short Uruguayan adventure. Get transferred to the bus terminal to catch the bus to the dock, where you will be boarding a return ferry to the Argentinian capital, Buenos Aires. We thank you for joining us and wish you luck with your onward journeys.
